An attractive late 18th century view of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire (formerly Northamptonshire) which was drawn and engraved by W. Turner* and J. Walker, respectively, and published in [J. Walker’s] Itinerant (London 1792-1803). The original page of text is included with the purchase.

*The artist of this engraving, ‘W. Turner’, is in fact the renowned J. M. W. Turner (1775 – 1851) who started his career as a draughtsman of architectural views and topographical scenes. He would later become one of the greatest British artists of the 19th century.

  • This is an original copperplate engraving with later hand colour.
  • Printed area is approximately 16.8cms by 12.5cms.
