A very attractive Victorian chromolithograph of the Gansel’s Bergamot Pear which was published in James Anderson’s The New Practical Gardener (London, Edinburgh & Glasgow: William Mackenzie, 1875).
Gansel’s Bergamot is a dessert pear that is believed to have been raised by Lt. Gen. Gansel at Donyland Park (then Donneland Hall) in 1768.
