An interesting and attractive mid 17th century view of the west front of Crowland Abbey, Lincolnshire which was drawn, etched and engraved by Daniel King (c.1610-1664) and published in either William Dugdale’s Monasticon Anglicanum (London: 1655-1672) or The Cathedrall and Conventuall Churches of England and Wales (London: 1672). Taught by the renowned Wencelaus Hollar (1607-1677), Daniel King was one of the earliest English togographic engravers / etchers.
